Glencoe - the Two Passes

Friday, July 21, 2006

What a day! Brilliant sunshine, gorgeous scenery and good company. The Two Passes walk in Glencoe was billed in my guidebook as "probably the finest day walk in Glencoe that does not involve a summit" and it certainly lived up to that. It was still a challenging 9-mile walk over rough terrain, needing a general level of fitness, and I was lulled into a false sense of security by the gentle start from the car park!

The terrain was quite rough and boggy in places, so definitely one for a nice dry day. We had wonderful views down Buachaille Etive Beag as we made our way back towards the A82 and home. We did the whole loop walk in just over 5 hours, but it would also be a lovely place to walk in for an hour or so to enjoy a peaceful picnic with a stunning view.

Make sure you are safe on the hill - read up on helpful safety advice on the Mountaineering Council of Scotland's website before you head out.
