Saturday 12th Jan 08 promised to be one of the best snow days in recent years and didn't disappoint! A friend and I tried to go ski-ing at Glencoe but it was looking too busy at 9am so we turned round and changed our plans to 'A beginners ski-touring day'. I am fairly new to ski-ing and even new to ski touring so we chose a smallish hill fairly close to the road in Glencoe: Stob Mhic Martuin. It was a good choice, not too intimidating a pull up and the views from the top were magnificent. The top was steepish so I side slipped down the first section but my ski buddy's whoops of joy as he skied down said everything about it. All too soon we were at the bottom, with my appetite whetted to improve my all mountain ski-ing technique.
Nevis Range was in peak condition too on Saturday with friends reporting it was busy but not too crazy on the lift queues.
