Winter Walking in the Highlands

Monday, December 08, 2008

The cold and snowy snap continued in Lochaber until Sunday. I went out for a quick stroll on Saturday, which was another blue sky day, and took this pic of a view through from Kinlochleven to the snowy Mamores. It was so cold I decided it was too risky to run or cycle as there was still a lot of compacted snow and ice around. We had a warmer, blowy day on Sunday so I headed south and east for a hill walk where the colder conditions hung on. But we have colder weather predicted this week and everyone is hoping this early cycle of freeze/thaw continues as it is laying down a great base for winter climbing and ski-ing.
