Snow in all the right places

Tuesday, February 03, 2009

While the rest of the UK grapples with bitter temperatures and lots of snow, we have snow where it should be - on the hills. It has been a bit windy and last week we had some rain but the forecast for Sunday 1st Feb was good so I headed up to Glencoe Mountain ski area. It was my first time on skis this year, and the snow was quite hard so my first run was definately a bit wobbly but I soon remembered what edges were for and got the hang of things again. The evil plateau poma was a bit erratic but if you kept away from that lift and from the Flypaper run area which was shut because it was too icy, lots of the runs gave good ski-ing. It seems that conditions are pretty similiar at Nevis Range.

A friend was climbing yesterday at Aonach Mor and said conditions were good but windy and cold.
